Today We Bring You... Daily Redtop : London Morning Glory 27 November 1963
Back in time (and into a parallel parallel universe) for this one! readers of the current I.T. story The Web Of Quatermiss! will have seen part of this newspaper on this page, but as I did a full front page, I thought I'd post it here!
The Morning Glory is one of the most popular newspapers in London, and has a wide circulation outside the City as well. On Wednesday 27 November it was reporting on the fog that descended on the city a few days earlier, a fog that apparently kills! The city is evacuated, apart from a few unfortunates (and the Army, of course), but they still got a paper out... why I don't know... I just write this stuff! It also reports on the body of the curator of the Museum of Curious Antiquities (which happened earlier in the story) which is cool... also, the main advert is a real one from the time. The 'Buy British' thing was originally to have been a proper be a Bear Brand ad but I couldn't find a clear enough image to copy from... I'm also rather fond of the contents column - yes, The Unearthly Child, the first episode of Doctor Who, was repeated the following Saturday due to the assassinatioon of JFK...!
